FRENCH CAMP – The Winona Christian Stars lost by two points to the French Camp Academy Panthers Friday night, with the Panthers defeating the Stars with a last second field goal, bringing the final score to 36-34.

NA – After much deliberation, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved one of three different district options for the county’s two elected board seats on the board of the future Winona Montgomery County Consolidated School District.
One man is in custody for the burglary of a Winona business.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, Charles Edward Washington, Jr., 45, of Winona was arrested and charged with commercial burglary in connection with the August 17 break-in at a local boutique.
Two are facing charges for selling untaxed alcohol in Winona.
According to Winona Chief of Police Tommy Bibbs, Felicia Woods was arrested and charged with the sale of untaxed beer and light wine, and Terence Woods was arrested and charged with the sale of untaxed moonshine. The misdemeanor charges carry a fine of $640.
The Mississippi Department of Education released scores from last spring’s Mississippi Academic Assessment Program assessments last week, tests which assess the performance of Mississippi’s third through eighth grade students as well as those taking Algebra and English II on the high school level.
Yesterday, the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery opened to much fanfare, with national, state, and local dignitaries as well as veterans and guests from miles around attending a dedication service. Hundreds of people came out and showed their support for the development and our local veterans.
WINONA—At Tuesday’s meeting of the Winona Mayor and Board of Aldermen, City Clerk June Williams announced that the city was awarded a $120,000 Recreational Trail grant from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and the Federal Highway Administration. With a match of around $56,000 of cash and in-kind, the city plans to b
