Towns hold parades

Winners from the Vaiden parade were: Floats (first to third place) Tuckerville M.B. Church, Campbell Hill M.B. Church, and Evergreen Masonic Lodge.  Below: Jack Teal waves to Santa who was the finale in the Carrollton-North Carrollton Christmas Parade.  At the end there were trophies awarded in the band, float and dance team categories.

Tartars tame Tigers

OXFORD – All that stood between Winona and an MHSAA Class 2A State Football Championship on Friday afternoon was Taylorsville freshman quarterback Ty Keyes. And he stood tall, guiding the Tartars to a 41-26 win on the turf at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Christmas Pajama Party

The Winona Montgomery Public Library hosted its annual Christmas Pajama Party Monday and Tuesday night.  Above: Preschool and Kindergarten age students attended the program Monday night and were treated to a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, read by Holly Bridges from Winona School District.  See more photos on page 7.

Clayton "Soc" Malone

Clayton “Soc” Malone, 82, of Winona, died at Country Meadow Personal Care Home near Greenwood on Wednesday, November 15. He

was born to Hosea C. and Marie Watson Malone in Kilmichael on July 15, 1935. Clayton moved to Winona in 5th grade, played football, and met his future wife, O’Nirah, during his high school years in Winona.
