Christmas Pajama Party

The Winona Montgomery Public Library hosted its annual Christmas Pajama Party Monday and Tuesday night.  Above: Preschool and Kindergarten age students attended the program Monday night and were treated to a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, read by Holly Bridges from Winona School District.  See more photos on page 7.

Ralpheale Brown

Funeral services for Ralpheale Brown of Winona was held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church in Winona, with Rev. Gregory McGee officiating.  Burial followed in Forrest Hill Cemetery in Winona.

Lester James Malueg

Graveside funeral services for Lester James Malueg of Tupelo, formerly of Winona, were held on Wednesday, November 22 at Winona Garden of Memory following the visitation. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Dr. David Sartin officiated the services.

David Pyron

Memorial services for David Pyron of Grenada, will be on Saturday, December 9 at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill, immediately following the visitation. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 9 at Oliver Funeral Home. Rev. James McElroy will officiate the services.

Almost in scripted fashion for the second consecutive week, JaTyler Moore delivered another game-winning pass to Jay Lofton in the final seconds Friday, this time giving the Winona Tigers their first North State Championship, after a roller coaster emotional battle culminating in a 22-14 win over Calhoun City’s Wildcats.

Saluting Our Vets

The North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery hosted this year’s Veterans Day Service for Montgomery County Saturday morning.  Cemetery director Mark Lawson led the service which also featured Janie Beth McRae singing the National Anthem, special music by Bennie Rigby, and a keynote address by Pastor Mark Williamson of Winona Baptist Church.
