Jacob Ryan Randall

Jacob Ryan Randall, 18, passed away early Monday, October 9, 2017, on Hwy. 17 in Carroll County as a result of an automobile accident.  Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Carroll Academy Gymnasium with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.  Rev. Keith Ramage and Rev. Lanny Haley officiated.  

Warren Douglas Black

Graveside services for Warren Douglas Black of Winona were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017, in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery near French Camp.  Rev. Randy Bridges officiated the services. Pallbearers were Cary Watkins, Marvis Braswell, Tommy Ward, Paul Black, Paul Hopkins, and Charles Fondren.

Marie Golding

Marie Golding went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2017, after a courageous extended battle with congestive heart failure. She was born near Hazen, Ark., on February 9, 1929, and was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vesta Pitts Moore, five sisters and one brother, plus her husband of 62 years, Powell H. Golding.

Henry Lee Crouch Sr.

Graveside services for Henry Lee Crouch Sr. of Duck Hill will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Duck Hill, with Rev. Tim Buchanan officiating.  Burial will follow with military honors at graveside.


How do you eat your pizza?


In the movie, “Despicable Me” (which is one of my favorites), the girls ask Gru if they can have pizza for supper with “stuffed crust” and everyone dreamily says “stuffed crust.” That’s how my husband, Pepper, feels about pizza, and so does Tracie Cunningham. She said she is a “huge crust fan!”

Students rewarded for Academics


Last Thursday, 198 students from Winona Secondary School were treated to lunch at Pizza Inn.  The treat was a reward for WSS students who showed growth on last May’s state tests.  According to Principal Charlie Parkerson, of the 240 students taking the tests, 198 of them showed growth.  The pizza party was just the first of many rewards planned
