James Houston Long

Funeral services for James Houston Long of Memphis, Tenn., were at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial followed in the Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden, with Masonic rites at graveside.  Rev. Robbie Murden and Rev. Linda Malone officiated the services. 

Visitation was at Lee Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2 p.m. until service time.

Mr. Long, 85, died at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis on Wednesday, February 15.  He was born in Parsons, Tennessee, on December 19, 1931, to Harry and Ruby Houston Long.  He was the owner of Directory Marketing Associates in Memphis.  Mr. Long was an avid golfer and a devout Mason and Shriner. He attended Second Baptist Church in Memphis and Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona. 

Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sara Caldwell Long of Memphis; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Lynn Long; parents, Harry and Ruby Long; sisters, Ruth Carrington, Martha Parsons, and Gussie Parsons; and a brother, Harry Long Jr., DMD.
