Graveside services for Anthony Spruille of Kilmichael were held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael at 10 a.m. with Minister Gloria Hargrove officiating.

Ellis T. Hart

Ellis T. Hart, 101, a civic and community business leader in Mississippi for more than 60 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at his home in Madison County surrounded by family and the love of his life, Reva Hart. A memorial service was held Sunday, Sept. 10, at Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson.

Anita G. Magee

Funeral services for Anita G. Magee of Kilmichael were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 11, at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael, with Dr. David Sartin officiating.  Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael.

Visitation was at the church on Monday, from 10 a.m. until service time.

Ruby Dorothy King

Mrs. Ruby Dorothy King, 90, of Winona died on Saturday, September 2, at Winona Manor. She was born on April 20, 1927, to George "Braskey" and Lottie Tullos Strahan in Attala County.  Mrs. King worked at McGregor Manufacturing and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Winona. Services for George Lewis Gillette, II were held Tuesday, September 12, 2017, 11 p.m. at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood.

Mr. Gillette, 77, died on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Jean Allen Black

Jean Allen Black, 83, passed away at her home in Germantown, Tenn., on September 5, 2017. Services will be held on September 14, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, in Memphis, Tenn. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m.

James H. Powell Jr.

On Saturday, September 2, 2017, the mortal chains binding James H. Powell Jr.  to this earth were broken when God called him home.   Mr. Powell, a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Mississippi, departed this life peacefully at the Country Meadow personal care facility in 
Greenwood, Mississippi.

Connie Sue Allen Ellard

Mrs. Connie Sue Allen Ellard passed from this world to her heavenly home September 4, 2017 at 7:00 am at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.  She was 93.

Mrs. Ellard was with her daughter, Connie Ellard Bunch, her son-in-law, Mr. Gary Michael Bunch, and her grandsons, Daniel Ellard Bunch and Andrew Michael Bunch.
