WINONA – A man is facing charges for purposefully setting fire to a duplex apartment.
CARROLLTON – After more than a decade, the Carrollton Board of Aldermen voted to begin the process of raising water rates.
The board voted to raise the variable water rate from $4 to $6 for every $1,000 gallons of water used over 2,000 gallons, which is billed at a flat rate of $18. There will not be an increase in the flat rate.
A storage building at a Winona home was completely lost by fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to Lt. Gwain Jefcoat with the Winona Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at 5:27 p.m. Monday night to reports of a fire located on the property of 1 Jacks Road near Highway 82.
WINONA – A group of concerned citizens living on Green Road in Poplar Creek came before the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors in regards to obstructions in the road they feel is caused by a neighbor’s home placement.
Heavy winds and rain toppled trees around the City of Winona Tuesday evening just after 8 p.m.
According to Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Allen Pratt, trees were downed on Freeman Street, Highway 407 at Enterprise Road, and on Providence Road.
“High winds were the cause,” Pratt said.
