WINONA – The City of Winona was awarded a $15,000 grant for economic development from the Walmart Corporation this week.

First, second, and third grade students from Winona Christian School who met their Accelerated Reading goal for the second nine weeks were rewarded with a trip to the movies at Plaza Cinema in Grenada.
The Walmart sign was painted over Tuesday afternoon prior to its final 7 p.m. closing that evening. Earlier this month, Walmart’s corporate office announced the Winona store, opened in 1979, would close permanently.
