Tennis team heading to state

The Turnage - Winona USTA Women's 40 and over 3.0 tennis team is advancing to the state championship.  The team came in second in the local league comprised of three teams from Greenville and the Winona team.  That earned them a wildcard spot in the championship.  If the team wins the state, it will advance to the sectionals at Mobile, Ala., at



MCHS Class of 2018 graduates

Maybelle Dennis Daves

Maybelle Dennis Daves, 82, of Fairhope, Ala., passed away on May 17, 2018. Graveside services were held at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. The service was officiated by Mrs. Daves’ brother in-law, Rev. Fred Funches of Cantonment, Fla. Arrangements were handled by Lee Funeral Home in Winona.

Skills USA Winners

Members of Carroll Academy's Middle School Student Council, sponsored as the Douglas Carroll Junior American Citizens by Third Arrow Chapter, Mississippi Society Daughters of the American Revolution, donated food items, helped prepare plates and served area "shut-ins" with the ladies of  "Women on Mission" at the North Carrollton Baptist Church

Almost in scripted fashion for the second consecutive week, JaTyler Moore delivered another game-winning pass to Jay Lofton in the final seconds Friday, this time giving the Winona Tigers their first North State Championship, after a roller coaster emotional battle culminating in a 22-14 win over Calhoun City’s Wildcats.




Woods is a National Merit Finalist

Winona Secondary School senior, Joseph Woods, has advanced to Finalist in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Joseph was among 16,000 Semifinalists who were announced back in September and invited to compete for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million to be offered this spring.
