Colonel Donald H. Peterson (AF Ret.) died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at his home in El Lago, Texas.

Born in Winona, Mississippi to Henry W. and Mabel Strickland Peterson, Don graduated from Winona and excelled in math and science.  His hard work paid off and after high school graduation he received an appointment to West Point.  

Donna Ann Hodges

Donna Ann Hodges, 59, of Kilmichael passed away on Saturday, June 2, at her residence.  She was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan on November 20, 1958, to Burton C. and Doris Jones Hodges.  She was the vice president of Burt's Truck and Trailer in Kilmichael.

Martha Jean Childs

Martha Jean Childs, 71, of Greenwood died Monday, May 21, 2018, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. A private service will be held at a later date. Williams and Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Skills USA Winners

Members of Carroll Academy's Middle School Student Council, sponsored as the Douglas Carroll Junior American Citizens by Third Arrow Chapter, Mississippi Society Daughters of the American Revolution, donated food items, helped prepare plates and served area "shut-ins" with the ladies of  "Women on Mission" at the North Carrollton Baptist Church

Woods is a National Merit Finalist

Winona Secondary School senior, Joseph Woods, has advanced to Finalist in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Joseph was among 16,000 Semifinalists who were announced back in September and invited to compete for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million to be offered this spring.
