Gladys Sue McNeer
Gladys Sue McNeer, 79, of Greenwood passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Centerville Baptist Church. Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Williams and Lord Funeral Home. Rev. Zane Hodge officiated. Burial was in Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County.
Gladys was born on October 12, 1938 in Carroll County, to George Ellis and Myrtis O’Neal Rivers. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James D. McNeer, and a sister, Faye Blakely. Gladys was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. She spent many years working in the restaurant business beginning with Burger Chef and lastly, Blue Lake Restaurant. She was retired and loved being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Ann McNeer and husband Vernon; her children, Debbie Johnson, Jeff McNeer and wife Kim, and Karen Barrentine; sons, Gerald Johnson and Jeff Barrentine; three grandchildren, Kelsey McClain and husband Trevor, Mitch Barrentine, and Emily McNeer, and one great grandson, Corey McClain.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Barrentine, Jeff Barrentine, Gerald Johnson, Trevor McClain, Randy McNeer, and James Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Nause, Dewayne Tabor, and all the staff of Greenwood Leflore Hospital ICU and 5th floor.
The family would like to thank all of the staff of the yellow wing at Golden Age Nursing Home for making a special effort to make their mother feel cared for, with special thanks to Marcus Stansberry and Carol Wiggins for their loving care.
